Mr. Wescott, I wish you the best of luck in gaining the right to permit concealed carry in Winnebago County! I'm currently a resident of Will County, so unfortunately, this would not apply to me, however it is a huge step toward allowing the residents of Illinois the right and means to defend themselves.
I am certain the the lives of the women who were executed at the Lane Bryant store in Tinley Park could have been spared, had they been afforded the option to defend themselves against an armed assailant. Yet even after that, the Village of Tinley Park still wanted to ban firearms within the incorporated city limits. I never did hear the outcome, but either way, those board members are still in office, when they should, in my opinion be immedately relieved of their positions for violating the civil rights of the residents of Tinley Park. Why punish law abiding citizens? The last I knew, criminals didn't care about laws. That's why they're criminals!
As it currently stands, I have been exploring the option of moving to Northwest Indiana, so that I'll still be in the Greater Chicagoland area, but have the right to carry a concealed weapon. I applaud your efforts, and hope that someday, the residents of this state will finally see the light and elect officials who support our rights, instead of legislating them away. Keep up the good work, Sir!
